Ben’s education and passion came from two important sources – Father Bob is the FIA Formula 1 commentator and met mother Jane in the paddock when she was working for Williams F1 Team. Andrew Marriott, another motorsport legend, was the one who educated Ben in TV and broadcasting, as he filled one of two producer/presenter/commentator roles on a variety of motorsport championships for SkySports.
This broad education in creating content in a variety of motorsports has continued throughout a 12 year career. He has worked for Audi and Audi Sport hosting hospitality, presenting online features on racing activities and the launch videos of the newest road cars
2017 was punctuated by Ben’s role as the big screen host and commentator for the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix and Australian Grand Prix, a return to the paddock, having worked for Jordan Grand Prix as a teenager.
2017 also saw him return to the world of eSports, for Dornas MotoGP eFinale and Mclarens World Fastest Gamer Competition. Much of his work sits online, he was part of the Pole Position team and has created content for Carfection Films. He has hosted the online stream for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and his local events the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival.
2017 saw him debut on Radio Le Mans for Le Mans, alongside voice over work for the World Rally Championship. His voice over experience is broad :-TCR International Series (2016-17) Race of Champions (2015), Goodwood Revival (2014), DTM (2013/12), World Endurance Championship (2012) and Formula 3 European Championship (2007-2013) amongst others.
Ben is perhaps best known for his presenter work for the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), but his role was far greater than simple interviews :- he produced the RF camera crew from the pitlane and presented the podium ceremonies. Latterly he began to present online features, whether it be hosting the studio show ‘Over the Line’ or filming ‘1 shot’ pieces to camera lasting up to 10 minutes. At one point in 2014 Ben was commentating AND presenting the WTCC live from Austria as a last minute substitution.
In his spare time, Ben loves to take part at amateur level, racing a lawn mower for 12 hours or racing his Ginetta GT5 He also raced a Smart, Mini JCW, Formula Vee, Mazda MX5 and Formula Ford
It’s not just cars, he loves to travel and see the world, either sailing, cycling, skiing or flying, he loves life and loves to live.
